There's some irony here as I type out this post and enjoy a bowl of chocolate ice cream at the same time. Believe me, it's not lost on me. But hear me out. Metabolism changes after 40 are REAL. I mean, do you even have a metabolism once you hit this point? My metabolism has been pretty steady since I was 16 years old. I was fortunate in college to not deal with the "Freshmen 15", but I did gain several pounds over those four years. After graduating and starting a job at a PR firm, I realized … [Read more...] about I turned 40 and my metabolism went on sabbatical

The importance of PLAY
As adults, I think we have a serious problem. We don't play enough. We get so caught up in what we should be doing, in worrying what other people think, in "adulting", that months (and even years) go by and we haven't really had a whole lot of fun. Self-acceptance isn't about "accepting" all that's in front of you - it's about … [Read more...] about The art of self-acceptance and letting go
Take a class: learning is lifelong
We all know the saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" but I don't think that's true. I mean, heck, hopefully I have my entire life to live over again and I certainly have new things I want to try and learn. Now that my kids are getting older and much more self-sufficient, I'm ready to get out in the evenings and weekend and do something just for me. One of the things I'm dying to try is a hand-lettering class. I'm obsessed with all the cool lettering that people can do on … [Read more...] about Take a class: learning is lifelong
